Peggy Miller-Lacher is married to Grady Lacher, a guidance counselor and former teacher at Oxford High School. Their family also includes Jana Miller, Tyde Lacher and an ever-growing number of four-legged children (at last count there were 5 dogs and 2 cats but some more may have been hiding under the sofa). Jana is currently following in her mother’s footsteps by attending the Birmingham School of Law and working at the Calhoun-Cleburne County District Attorney’s office.
Experience
 
Peggy Miller-Lacher has spent the last 18 years in private practice where she has accumulated countless hours of active trial experience. She has also participated in numerous mediations and served as guardian ad litem for hundreds of children. Peggy presented a seminar on Parent Attorney Training for the Administrative Office of Courts and another seminar on Custody Issues for Jacksonville State University.In her work Peggy has consistently maintained good relations with judges, attorneys, court staff, counselors, case workers and litigants.
 
Education
 
After graduating from Wellborn High School in 1985, Peggy attended Gadsden State Community College where she earned an Associates Degree before transferring to Jacksonville State University where she graduated in 1990 with a major in Business Management and a minor in Accounting. As a single parent she worked her way through law school. After five years of juggling a full-time job, law school and taking care of her daughter, Peggy graduated with honors from the Birmingham School of Law in 1995.
 
Community
 
Throughout her career Peggy has always made public service a priority, serving especially with organizations that meet the needs of children and animals. She is a current member of the Children’s Policy Council and serves on the Board of Directors for Starting Point Treatment Center and the advisory board for Calhoun County Animal Control. She has also participated in the Guardian ad Litem Assistant Program and served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calhoun County and the Quality Assurance Committee for the Department of Human Resources.
